Endodontic treatment (root canal treatment) is about removing changed and dead pulp or old canal filling and lastingly filling the empty space with medical material. The reason of this type treatment is removing the source of infection. Ignored infection may cause destructive bone changes and pain (which sometimes are not recognized). Modern treatment requires special equipment and possibility of precise and quick diagnosis of inflamminations of teeth and jaw.

Definitely a better solution is to undertake the endodontic treatment than to remove teeth. There are some special situations when the only way to fix the problem is taking teeth off (serious microorganism illness). Definitely we should rather save our own teeth. Removing a tooth is an irreversible procedure, which can cause ex. bone astrophy. That’s why taking the tooth off is connected with the need of filling the lack with ex. Implant, which makes the price higher.
